Pret A Manger surpasses £1bn in annual global sales

Pret A Manger has reported that its global sales topped £1.1bn last year as the UK sandwich chain expanded internationally.

This figure represented a 22% increase on the group’s performance in 2022.

Pret’s performance is set to continue as the group also revealed that its H1 2024 sales across company-owned and franchise shops totalled £569m, an increase of 10% compared to the first half of 2023.

This growth has been driven by the group’s continued expansion into new markets, with Pret now open for business in 18 markets, as well as positive same-store sales growth across both company-owned and franchise shops.

Franchising now represents around a third of Pret’s global sales, while the sandwich also reported that £1 in every £4 is now spent by Pret customers outside the UK.

Pret’s chief executive, Pano Christou, said: “We set ourselves some tough targets to get Pret going again after the pandemic, and we have delivered.

“The fact that £1 in every £4 is now spent outside the UK is both an achievement and an opportunity for our business. It shows how big the appetite is from customers all over the world for Pret’s menu and our unique range of ingredients and recipes.”
