Genus announces incoming CFO

Animal genetics company, Genus, has appointed Andy Russell as its new chief financial officer (CFO).

Russell will join the Genus board and become an executive director at the company on 1 August 2025.

He will take over from Alison Henriksen, who is retiring from the Company on 31 July, after more than five years in the role.

Russell is an experienced CFO and will join Genus after 12 years with medical device manufacturer, Smith & Nephew. He currently serves as senior vice president, group finance and M&A, operating as deputy to the group CFO and leading approximately 400 people. Before joining Smith & Nephew, he spent 17 years with KPMG.

“I am excited to be joining a business that has so many growth opportunities to execute against,” Russell said. “I look forward to working with Jorgen and the board to capitalise on these prospects and deliver value to all our stakeholders.”

Genus CEO, Jorgen Kokke, added: “I am delighted that we have been able to secure an executive of Andy’s calibre. His blend of deep finance expertise and strong commercial acumen will help us take Genus through the next stage of its development as we continue to pursue our strategic priorities.”
