Ted Baker set to appoint administrators

Administrators are set to be appointed at fashion chain, Ted Baker, with hundreds of jobs at risk.

The BBC has reported that Authentic Brands Group, which has owned Ted Baker since 2022, said that the “damage done” during a tie-up with a Dutch firm was "too much to overcome", after it built up a significant level of arrears.

The brand will continue to trade and customer orders will be fulfilled, with Authentic stating that it is in "advanced discussions" with several potential buyers for Ted Baker.

Ted Baker is a clothing firm, founded in 1987 in Glasgow, Scotland, which is known for selling suits, shirts and dresses.

It currently employs around 975 employees across 46 stores, as well as an e-commerce platform and department store concessions. It also has licensing agreements in places for stores in Asia and Middle East.

Chief strategy and transition offer at Authentic Brands Group, John McNamara, said: "We wish that there could have been a better outcome for the Ted Baker employees and stakeholders."

McNamara added that it is "some consolation" for customers that the firm will continue to trade online and in stores.
