Richard Pike appointed as Johnson Matthey CFO

Johnson Matthey has appointed Richard Pike as its new chief financial officer (CFO), effective immediately as a designate.

He will join the company’s board from 1 April 2025, succeeding Stephen Oxley, who will continue as CFO until 31 March to ensure an orderly transition.

Pike will join the FTSE 250-listed speciality chemicals and sustainable technologies company from DS Smith, where he has served as group finance director since March 2023.

He has worked as CFO at Biffa, group finance director at AB Sugar and managing director at British Sugar, as well as CFO at Boparan Holdings.

Earlier in his career, Pike trained and qualified as a chartered accountant with PwC, before going on to work in positions at Scapa Group, Pilkington and Manchester Airports Group.

Johnson Matthey said that he brings "strong financial leader and a deep understanding of manufacturing and recycling industries".

It added that he also has "significant experience of enhancing cash flow and improving cost efficiencies".

Chief executive at Johnson Matthey, Liam Condon, stated: "I am really pleased to welcome Richard to Johnson Mathey as our CFO. Pike’s proven track record of financial leadership will be critical as we continue to execute our transformation strategy, with a strong focus on delivering cash generation and creating value for all our stakeholders."

Pike concluded: "I am delighted to be joining Johson Matthey and am excited about its future. I am looking forward to working with Condon, the board and the entire Johnson Matthey team to drive our financial performance and deliver on our strategic objectives."
