Pam Kaur has been appointed as group chief financial officer (CFO) at HSBC.
She joined the group in April 2013 as group head of audit and is currently serving as group chief risk and compliance officer.
Kaur brings over 40 years’ experience in financial services, having worked in the UK and the US for British, American and German banks.
She is also a qualified accountant and brings technical knowledge and experience in treasury, capital, balance sheet and risk management.
Kaur, who has served on HSBC’s group executive committee for over a decade, will start in the role and as an executive director from 1 January 2025.
Interim group CFO, Jon Bingham, will resume in his role as global financial controller.
Group chairman at HSBC, Sir Mark Tucker, said: "I would like to congratulate Kaur on her appointment as group CFO. She is highly respected and well known to the board and was the unanimous choice. I wish Kaur every success in her new role and thank Bingham for his excellent support as interim group CFO."
Group chief executive at HSBC, Georges Elhedery, added: "We had a strong bench of internal and external candidates to choose from and Kaur was the exceptional candidate to recommend to the board.
