The former chief financial officer at WH Smith, Robert Moorhead, has deferred his appointment to the board at Greggs.
The announcement comes after the travel retailer launched an independent review, led by Deloitte, following an accounting error in its North American division earlier this month.
Following the error, WH Smith lowered its group profit expectations for the full financial year by £30m, leading its share price to fall by over 40%.
Greggs announced last month that Moorhead was to join the firm as chair of the audit committee from 1 October.
The bakery chain said that in the meantime, Kate Ferry will remain as a non-executive director in the interim and will continue to chair the audit committee.
WH Smith stated last week that it will provide a further update on its expectations and the review in its preliminary results announcement.
