Shares in Asos have fallen by over 13% after the online fashion retailer was allegedly hacked earlier today.
Users of the e-commerce app received a pop-up notification this morning from the alleged hackers, stating that they have “fully compromised the Snowflake instance”, calling on its IT team and data protection officer to engage or they will “leak it”.
The BBC has reported that Snowflake is a data storage company which is used by dozens of firms to collect, analyse and store data.
The alleged hacking follows a cyber attack on M&S last year, which saw the supermarket’s share price plummet, and led to it being unable to trade online for months.
Asos is yet to release a statement but its chatbot says that it is “aware of the notifications” and it is “investigating”.
The BBC also understands that the National Cyber Security Centre has offered assistance to he fashion retailer.
